John Lorne Seelenmeyer was born on the 8th of May 1917 in Harcourt, Victoria. He enlisted on the 20th of June 1941.

His first operational tour was in the United Kingdom with No. 504 Squadron from February 1943 to March 1944. He then served with No. 457 Squadron from October 1944 to February 1945.

Seelenmeyer received a medical discharge in July 1945.

As can be seen from John's personnel file, he was a very experienced and competent pilot and as such, would have had the respect of all who served with him.
